In 2009 SNORE took on the challenge of racing the old SCORE Laughlin track, and succeeded. The Race took place in Laughlin Nevada, on December 12th and 13th, with Qualifying for Class 1 and Trophy Trucks, along with contingency on Friday the 11th.
Here is some action from qualifying
Rick Thomas blasts through the whoops in his trophy truck
Mark Ewing packs it up as his trophy truck goes through the whoops
Ross uses all of his travel on his class one car as he comes of a roller
After time trials was the prerun the tech and contingency, here are some shots from contingency
Race cars line contingency row
Strunk gets ready to move the truck back to the race track after tech
Saturday morning started the race, It was a cold and cloudy after scouting the course the afternoon before I decided to head out to the area with the most amount of interesting shooting spots within walking distance, there weren't many access roads and you weren't aloud to drive on or near the course so location was key. I shot most of the day at a g-out that went into a turn which made for some good shots.
A 5/1600 car jumps into the turn
Pat Dailey's class 5 cars goes nose down into the turn
Kevin McMurray's 1450 speeds through the whoops before the g-out
Another 1600 car jumps into the turn
Dan Vance Jumps into the turn in Class 7
Jeff Harrison in his class 7 truck lifts off
A trophy Lite catches some air
Josh Daniels flies through the course
Ron Whitton wheelies through out of the g-out
Cameron Steele flies off the jump
Terry Householder flies through the turn
The LDVC class 1 car flies through the turn
A class 12 car leaps out of the g-out.
On Sunday I decided to checkout a spot close to the infield where I heard some great action was happening so I started to shoot it for 5/1600 class and liked what I was getting so I stayed for the day. This section is a canyon full of deep whoops and a couple turns.
A 1600 car goes through a deep whoop out of the turn
Doug takes cover from the rain
A 1450 truck mashes through the whoops
Mark Slater wheelies out of the turn
Rob McCacheron goes up on two wheels in the turn (he would end up saving it)
A 7s truck wheelies through the whoops
Two class 1's battle through the turn
A class 10 car smashes through the turn
A class 12 car shoots a roost through the turn
That would conclude a great racing weekend, and be my final race of the 2009 racing season. Check back for more blogs and the top 25 shots from 2009. First official race of the season will be The Parker 425, at the beginning of February so lookout! Thanks for reading.
