Every year the first race of the BITD (Best In The Desert) season takes place in Parker Arizona. This is one of the biggest races in the BITD season and one of the biggest races in Arizona. This year was no exception.
The annual Parker 425 Takes place in the first weekend in February. With a chance of rain again this year wouldnt dampen the spirits of racers and fans alike; with over 29 Trophy Truck entries and 48 Class 1 entires alone, this year would prove to be a great day of racing.
This year after checking out some leads and some good spots I found that they had been bladed (smoothed over) I decided to stick to the old spots I shot last year. The race started at 7:15am Sharp and the sun didnt rise yet and the cloud cover made it interesting. So my first spot was at mile 3, It was a roller that was hit and miss. I used my SB600 flash to boost the lighting. Here are some shots from my first spot..
John Herder speeds over the roller
The Grove Class 1 car at full compression after the roller
Jason Voss takes the outside line in his Trophy Truck
Rodger Norman charges over the roller, I picked up the side light from another photog's flash
Will Staats packs up the front end
Josh Rigsby speeds through the section
Lonnie Hart flies over the roller
Scott McFarland flies through the outside line
Jeff Davis charges through the outside line
Michelle Bruckmann pushes through the outside line
A Class 5 car flies over the roller
A Trophylite bucks through the outside line
After That I moved down the track half a mile to a rough sandy corner.which made for some pretty cool shot some close call but thats why its always important to stay on your toes. Here are shots from that spot.
Sam Berri leading lap 2 charges through the corner
"Pistol" Pete Sohren leading the Trophy Truck class on lap 2 charges through the outside of the turn
Bj Baldwin Blasts through the turn showering myself and the other photographers in dirt, im glad there werent any big rocks in that corner
The next sequence I one of my favorite of the race Rodger Norman charges through the roughest section of the turn and here are some shots in the sequence.
Ed "Clyde" Stout flies through the turn
Bobby Baldwin goes through the turn
The Canidae Trophy Truck blasts through the turn
William Stuever smashes through the turn
Loyd Sproule leans through the turn
Andy Mcmillin flies through the turn charging to the front of the pack
A Class 10 catches some air through the turn
Another Class 10 car charges through the turn
Greg Jones smashes through the turn
After shooting the turn for a couple hours I moved about another mile down the track and shot a downhill and turn section. Which always makes for some great shots. Here are some shots from around the bottom of the downhill and turn..
A Class 10 car blasts out of the turn
A 7200 Jeep plows out of the down hill and scoop a bunch of earth
Troy Herbst Charges into the wash
and then through the turn
Jason Voss plows through the wash
Harley Letner speeds through the wash
Bobby Baldwin also plows through the wash
Tracy Rubio flies through the wash
A Class 1 car rounds the corner through the wash
Later I figured I get a different perspective and shoot from the hill side, got some different shots which I liked
Dale Lenk charges through the wash
Marc Ewing plows over the hill into the wash
It was an exciting and wet day of racing. Thankyou all for reading, see you at the next race. If you are interested in ordering print or anything feel free to shoot me an email at racemarkerphoto@gmail.com or visit http://www.racemarkerphoto.photoreflect.com/
